Tattoo Aftercare
Congratulations on your new tattoo! We sincerely hope that you love it for many years to come.
Now you've got your new artwork, here are our recommendations on how to look after it. It is important to follow a safe aftercare routine to reduce the chances of infection, and ensure that your tattoo heals with ease.
Once the wrap comes off, wash your tattoo in warm, soapy water. This must be in running water, not submerged into a body of water (like a bath or pool). Washing your tattoo in the shower is perfectly fine.
Gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean towel (or disposable paper towel) and allow to breathe and dry for 24 hours.
Each day, gently wash your tattoo in warm soapy water, pat dry and then apply a thin layer of Hustle Butter Tattoo Aftercare. Repeat this twice per day.
It will take 2 weeks for your tattoo to heal. You may continue to use aftercare longer than this if you wish.
Your tattoo will get itchy and may begin to flake as it heals. It is important that you do not pick at or scratch your tattoo during this process. You can use a cool pack to help soothe the itching.
Infection is always a risk when having a tattoo done. We take every measure to reduce the chance of an infection from our Studio, but it is still possible to have bacteria enter the wound after you have left the Studio and have unwrapped your tattoo. For this reason, it is important to practice good personal hygiene standards while your tattoo is healing. Avoid coming into contact with pet fur, dirt and dust, dirty bedding, dirty clothes etc. Do not allow others to touch your tattoo while it is healing.
Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap before touching your tattoo or applying aftercare.
If your artist has used a second skin product on your tattoo; it is ideal to try and leave the wrap in place for 3-4 days.
If your artist has used simple plastic wrap, it is ideal to remove this no more than 2 hours after your tattoo is complete.
