FAQs

Q: Do you guarantee your work?
A: Absolutely! We guarantee all of our tattoo work that we produce provided that proper care of your tattoo is taken and our recommended aftercare is followed.
We may offer a free touch up session for your tattoo if any areas drop out or fade within three months of receiving your tattoo.
Please note: we cannot guarantee tattoos done on fingers, and touch ups on this area may incur a cost. Some of our artists may refuse to tattoo fingers for this reason.

Q: How much does a tattoo cost?
A: The cost of tattoos will vary depending on the design, the artist's experience, and the time needed for your tattoo. The average costs may be:
Minimum charge: $100
Hourly rate: $160 - $200
Half Day (3.5 hrs): $550 - $650
Full Day (6-7 hrs): $1,000 - $1,200

Q: Can you draw my idea for a tattoo?
A: Absolutely! All of our artists would be glad to draw your idea to make a custom tattoo for you. You can book a free consultation appointment to sit down with your artist and discuss your ideas for your tattoo.

Q: Can you touch up or finish a tattoo that was started by another artist?
A: Yes.
We aim to change and improve the tattooing experience. There can be many reasons why a client may choose not to return to the artist who began work for them; if you had a poor experience, the work is not quite what you had expected, you or they may have relocated etc..
In any case, we will be happy to help and complete your tattoo.

Q: Does it hurt?
A: All tattoos will have some level of discomfort. There may be some areas of the body that hurt more than others. This is quite different for each person, and so it can be difficult to describe to someone who hasn't had a tattoo yet. Generally, they are not so painful that it is unbearable.
At Lost Woods, we endeavour to make your experience as comfortable as possible by using the latest technology in tattoo machines and needle manufacturing to cause as little trauma to the skin and reduce discomfort.

Q: Can I use numbing cream?
A: You may apply a topical anaesthetic cream if you are nervous about the pain for certain areas of the body. As tattoo practitioners, we are (legally) unable to apply this for you, so you must apply any numbing products yourself before attending your appointment. Your artist may be able to offer some advice or recommendations for products that we know to be safe.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions, and speak to your GP for advice before applying any numbing product to your skin.

Q: How can I pay? Do you accept cash?
A: We accept both cash and card payments.
Please note that all card payments will incur a surcharge of 1.09% + 38c.

Q: Do you offer Gift Certificates?
A: Yes we do! You can purchase these in store or online here.
Gift Certificates are valid for 3 years and can be redeemed with any artist at Lost Woods Tattoo.

Q: Do you offer Body Piercing?
A: No. Luckily, we are located very close to one of the best Studios for body piercing in Australia!
The Cherrycore Studio is located only 4 minutes away in Upwey. They use the best quality jewellery that is available and are highly trained to use the best piercing techniques.
We are certain that you will be safe and will have a fantastic experience there.

Q: How old do I need to be for a tattoo?
A: By law, in Victoria you must be 18 years of age to get a tattoo. We cannot, under any circumstances, tattoo anyone under the age of 18. Having parental consent does not override the law. We will ask you to fill in a consent form and provide photo ID before your tattoo.

Q: Can I bring a guest/support person to my appointment?
A: You may bring a friend/guest/support person if necessary, but please limit this to just one guest. Having too many people in the space becomes very distracting and disrupts the focus of our artists, which may compromise your tattoo.
The Studio is not suitable for children under 16 years. Please do not bring children under this age with you to your appointment.

Q: Can I bring a support animal to my appointment?
A: By law, we cannot refuse access to a certified support animal. Uncertified pets are not allowed in the Studio at any time.
However, as some of our staff do have allergies, we ask that you let us know of your needs before bringing your animal in so that we can make arrangements to cater to your needs.

Q: How should I prepare for my tattoo?
A: The best way to prepare for a tattoo is to ensure that you are well rested, fed and hydrated before coming in. It is ideal to have bathed before coming in, and have your day as stress-free as possible. Feel free to bring water and/or snacks with you to your appointment, as well as a book or headphones should you wish to listen to music. The Studio is fitted with iPads in each area for clients to watch Netflix/Disney+/Binge while they are getting tattooed.
